About This Course

This qualification reflects the role of individuals working as designers or design paraprofessionals who support professional engineers. They perform tasks involving a high level of autonomy and requiring the application of significant judgement in planning and determining the selection of equipment/roles/techniques for themselves and others. They are required to develop site specific work designs to ensure the implementation of the client's site requirements. They demonstrate the application of a broad range of technical, managerial, coordination and planning skills.

Entry Requirements

General Requirements

Applicants must be minimum 18 years of age at the time of commencement
Have a valid, or in the process of obtaining, a Student Visa or a visa which would allow them to study in Australia (applicable for international students)
Must satisfy Albright Pre-training Review (PTR) Assessment
Applicants must undertake the Albright LLND test
Have a valid IELTS score of 5.5 Bands or PTE score of 42 or Cambridge score 162 or TOEFL iBT 46 or its equivalent (completed a minimum 10-weeks General English Course of Upper-Intermediate Level) within the last 2 calendar years; OR Completed an Australian AQF Level 3 (Certificate III) qualification or higher within last 3 calendar years; OR completed the requirements for a Senior Secondary Certificate of Education in a course conducted entirely in English in Australia within the last 3 calendar years; OR completed a minimum of 5 continuous years of study conducted in English in one or more of the following countries: Australia, Canada, New Zealand, South Africa, the Republic of Ireland, the United Kingdom and the United States of America
Successful completion of an equivalent of Australian Year 12 qualification in any country
Basic computer and MS Office skills (Word, Excel and Power Point, etc.)
There are no training package entry requirements for this course; however, Albright Institute stipulates the general entry requirements as outlined above

What is the study schedule like for this course?

A typical week consists of two days of on campus classes, each with two periods scheduled in either the AM or PM block, plus a third day online session of 5 hours — totalling 15 hours of face-to-face scheduled training and 5 hours of online training to complete the compulsory 20 contact hours per week requirement of the International Student visa.

Is this course part of a larger program?

Yes. The Diploma of Civil Construction Design (RII50520) is offered as the first part of the Civil Construction Design (CCD) Program, and is offered as a package with RII60520 Advanced Diploma of Civil Construction Design (CRICOS 111404A, 52 weeks duration) at Albright Institute. After completing the Diploma, students should opt to complete the Advanced Diploma as part of the Albright Civil Construction Design Program.

What are the English language requirements for this course?
