Course Overview
The course is equivalent to the first year of an undergraduate commerce degree and will facilitate articulation into the second year of an undergraduate program offered by the Macquarie University Business School. Students will be introduced to fundamental knowledge and concepts in business, such as accounting, finance, marketing, economics, statistics and management.
The Diploma of Commerce is a diploma consisting of a minimum of 80 credit points, taught in English, which normally takes 28 weeks of full-time study or part-time equivalent to complete. The course structure requires successful completion of eight units of study. Most students are admitted on the basis of successful completion of secondary studies or by alternative pathways for non-current school leavers. Graduates of the diploma program are eligible to progress to a range of bachelor degrees.

Accepted HSC English subjects include English Standard, English as an Additional Language or Dialect, and English Advanced (all requiring a minimum Band B3), as well as English Extension 1 and English Extension 2 (both requiring a minimum Band E2).
For academic entry, you must have completed one of the following HSC Mathematics subjects: Mathematics Standard 2 or Mathematics Advanced (minimum Band B3), or Mathematics Extension 1 or Mathematics Extension 2 (minimum Band E2).
Yes, in addition to the English and Mathematics requirements, applicants must also have achieved a minimum Band B3 in any other Category A HSC subject, or a minimum Band E2 in any other Extension subject not already listed in the English or Mathematics requirements.
For most Category A HSC subjects, the minimum required band is B3. For Extension subjects, the minimum required band is E2.
