The course runs for 2 years (104 weeks), comprising 8 terms of 10 weeks each (80 weeks of training and assessment) plus 24 weeks of holidays.
As part of this course, you need to complete two work placements totalling 400 hours in a community services organisation. This practical industry experience will prepare you for your future role working in the industry and you will enhance your communication skills. You may also be required to provide a current national police check before starting your placement if requested by the workplace employer.
You must meet one of the following criteria: an IELTS score of 6.0 (or equivalent) with no individual band score below 5.5; an ALG in-house English proficiency test equivalent to IELTS 6.0; a Certificate IV level qualification (or higher) completed within the AQF in Australia within 2 years before starting this course; or completion of the Senior Secondary Certificate of Education in Australia in the English language within 2 years before starting this course.
Graduates of the CHC52025 Diploma of Community Services can pursue roles such as Community Services Worker, Case Worker, Case Manager, Child, Youth and Family Worker, Support Worker, Welfare Support Worker, Intake Officer, Early Intervention Worker, Community Housing Resources Worker, and Community Program Coordinator.
