Diploma of Community Services

The Diploma of Community Services (Case Management & Responding to Family Violence) (CHC52025) reflects the role of community service workers involved in the delivery, management and coordination of person-centred services to individuals, groups and communities. Workers at this level have specialised skills and operate autonomously within broad direction from senior management, supporting people to improve personal and social wellbeing and often supervising other workers or volunteers.

Delivered face to face on campus over 52 weeks (39 weeks class, 8 weeks break), the course includes a minimum of 100 hours of work placement with community service providers arranged in the local area. Students complete 20 units of competency (12 core and 8 elective) covering co-existing needs, crisis response, service program development, domestic and family violence response, case management and supervision, trauma-informed care, and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural safety.

Graduates are prepared for coordination and case management roles across the community services sector, with pathways into further tertiary study such as a Bachelor of Social Work.
