Common Questions
The total tuition fee for the Diploma of Community Services is $27,000. In addition, there is a non-refundable enrolment deposit of $200 (prior to commencement) and a materials fee of $600. Students can choose to pay via a payment plan of 18 instalments of $1,500, or make an optional upfront payment of 50% or more of the total tuition fees prior to the course commencement date.
The work placement component is 8 weeks in duration, with 30 hours per week, totalling 240 hours. Students must already be working for a community services provider or be able to source a provider to complete this placement. If needed, students can contact student support for assistance in finding a placement provider.
Students must meet one of the following English proficiency requirements: IELTS score of 5.5, TOEFL internet-based test score of 51, Cambridge English: Advanced score of 162, PTE Academic score of 39, or Occupational English Test score of 1090. Alternatively, students can provide evidence that they were educated for 5 years in an English-speaking country, successfully completed Year 12 or equivalent in English Language, or undertaken tertiary studies of at least one year duration in English.
Students who complete the Diploma of Community Services may wish to continue their education into courses such as CHC62015 – Advanced Diploma of Community Sector Management or CHC82015 – Graduate Certificate in Client Assessment and Case Management.
The Diploma of Community Services requires the completion of 20 units in total, comprising 12 core units and 8 elective units. Core units include subjects such as Assess co-existing needs (CHCCCS004), Facilitate and review case management (CHCCSM017), Manage legal and ethical compliance (CHCLEG003), and Maintain work health and safety (HLTWHS003), among others.
