About This Course

The Diploma of Community Services (Case Management) reflects the roles of community services, case management and social housing workers involved in managing, co-ordinating and/or delivering person-centred services to individuals, groups and communities. Workers typically provide direct support to individuals or groups, and may also have responsibility for supervising other workers and volunteers, case management, program coordination or developing new business opportunities.

The course includes an organised industry work placement and participation in practical activities in a simulated training environment. International students study on campus at Southbank over a duration of 52 weeks including holidays, at 20 hours per week (two full days and one half day), with a minimum of 100 hours (up to 200 hours) of work placement in an approved community services workplace.

To gain this qualification, successful completion of a practical placement is required.

General Requirements

Domestic Students

Pre-training review to confirm the appropriate level of Language, Literacy and Numeracy (test result must be within the last 12 months, where supplied)
Basic computer skills
Successful completion of a practical placement is required to gain this qualification
To participate in placement, students must produce a satisfactory Victoria Police Records Check and Working with Children Check

International Students

Minimum IELTS 6.0 with no individual component score below 5.5, or equivalent
Over 18 years of age at course commencement
Pre-training review to assess individual needs, demonstrating adequate ACSF levels for this qualification
Basic computer skills
Successful completion of a practical placement is required to gain this qualification
A satisfactory Victoria Police Records Check and Working with Children Check are required to participate in placement
