About This Course

This qualification reflects the role of community services workers involved in the delivery, management and coordination of person centred services to individuals, groups, and communities. At this level, workers have specialised skills in community services and work autonomously within their scope of practice under broad directions from senior management. Workers support people to make change in their lives to improve personal and social wellbeing and may also have responsibility for the supervision of other workers and volunteers. They may also undertake case management and program coordination. The skills in this qualification must be applied in accordance with Commonwealth and State or Territory legislation, Australian standards and industry codes of practice. To achieve this qualification, the candidate must have completed at least 100 hours of work as detailed in the Assessment Requirements of units of competency. No occupational licensing, certification or specific legislative requirements apply to this qualification at the time of publication.

Requirements

You must be at least 18 years old.
Completion of the equivalent of Year 12 education is mandatory.
Participation in a course entry interview is necessary to assess your suitability for the course and determine your specific student needs.
The interview will also include a Language, Literacy, and Numeracy (LLN) assessment.
To be eligible for entry, you must achieve an Australian Core Skills Framework (ACSF) level of 4 in reading, writing, numeracy, and oral communication.
An International English Language Testing System (IELTS) score of 6 or equivalent is required.
All students will be required to sit for an Internal English Test to validate current levels.
Test results must be no more than 2 years old.
Alternatively, English language competence can be demonstrated through documented evidence of any of the following:
- Education for a minimum of 5 years in an English-speaking country.
- Completion of at least 6 months of a Certificate IV level course at an Australian Registered Training Organization (RTO).
- Successful completion of an English Placement Test.
Other English language tests such as PTE and TOEFL may be accepted, provided the results are equivalent to IELTS 6.
Applicants identified with lower (than 6) English Proficiency levels will be required to enrol in a specialist English Language provider to upgrade their English prior to entry into a vocational course.

What are the tuition fees for the Diploma of Community Services?

Tuition fees are $16,500 for onshore students and $17,500 for offshore students. There is also a material fee of $1,500 and an enrolment fee of $250.

Is there a work placement requirement for this qualification?

What English language requirements do I need to meet to enrol?
