Diploma of Community Services

The CHC52025 – Diploma of Community Services is designed for individuals seeking to develop specialised skills and knowledge to work autonomously in the community services sector. Delivered face-to-face at Victorian Skills College's Melbourne campus over 104 weeks (including a 24-week holiday break), the course equips students with the competencies to deliver, manage and coordinate person-centred services to individuals, groups and communities, supporting people to make positive changes in their lives and improve their personal and social wellbeing. The qualification also covers case management and program coordination responsibilities, and students may go on to supervise other workers and volunteers. Across 20 units (12 core and 8 elective), students build skills in assessing co-existing needs, developing and implementing service programs, responding to crisis situations and domestic/family violence, and reflecting on and improving their own professional practice. A key component is a minimum of 400 hours of supervised work placement, providing invaluable practical experience. Graduates are equipped for a wide range of roles across the community services sector, with pathways into further study such as a Bachelor of Community Services or Bachelor of Social Work.
