Common Questions
To complete this qualification, students must undertake at least 200 hours of supervised work placement in a relevant community services setting. However, Macallan College's entry requirements also reference a commitment to completing 400 hours of practical placement.
Students who enrol in the CHC52021 Diploma of Community Services and do not complete all 15 units but are deemed competent in some units will be awarded a Statement of Attainment (SoA) for the units they have been deemed competent. The full qualification CHC52021 Diploma of Community Services will only be awarded to students who have completed all 15 units and been deemed competent.
Students must have English proficiency as guided by Macallan College's English Proficiency Policy and Procedures. This includes an IELTS Test overall score of 6.0 (or equivalent) with no individual section score less than 5.5. Additionally, a pre-entry Oxford English online test result of no less than B2.2 with a minimum score of 71 is required. All applicants from AL3 countries must sit an IELTS test.
After completing this diploma, students may choose to study a Bachelor of Social Work, Human Services, or Community Development; complete additional qualifications in Mental Health, Youth Work, or Alcohol and Other Drugs; or undertake the Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40122) to become a trainer or assessor.
The course duration is 104 weeks, and students are expected to attend a minimum of 20 hours of classes per week as per their timetable.
