About This Course

The Diploma of Cybersecurity is a higher education diploma from Torrens University Australia, designed, developed and delivered by industry to build the practical, technical and theoretical skills needed for a career in cybersecurity amid a global rise in cybercrime. The course develops core IT skills across programming, data and networking, cloud computing, software engineering and cybersecurity principles, with a human-centric design focus that sets it apart. Graduates can apply cybersecurity principles to ICT solutions while considering ethical and social responsibilities. Co-developed with industry-leading ICT practitioners and academics, the course is structured to meet the Australian Computer Society's Core Body of Knowledge (CBOK) and Cybersecurity Body of Knowledge (CyBOK). Learning outcomes include examining the design and operations of computer systems, databases and networks, applying preventative cybersecurity principles, understanding cybersecurity requirements in ICT solution design, and developing and presenting verified, validated software solutions for cybercrime prevention.

Students are eligible for complimentary membership with the Australian Information Security Association (AISA), the largest national peak body for cybersecurity, as well as complimentary Australian Computer Society (ACS) membership. The course is delivered online, on campus and in blended mode over 1 year full time (2 years part time), across the Sydney, Brisbane, Adelaide and Melbourne campuses and online, with intakes in September 2026 and February 2027.

Entry Requirements

General Requirements

Domestic students — Admission criteria:

Australian secondary school certificate, or equivalent
Successful completion of a Vocational qualification (AQF Level 4), or above
Successful completion of at least 0.5 EFTSL at AQF level 5, 1 EFTSL at AQF level 5 or above, or equivalent
Work life experience demonstrating the ability to undertake study at the required level, which may include approval of prior study or successful completion of a readiness assessment

Check the domestic course fee schedule for the cost of your course. Eligible Australian students may choose to defer some, or all, of their tuition fees through FEE-HELP. Technology, Industry and Alumni scholarships are available.

International students — Admission criteria:

Successful completion of at least 0.5 EFTSL at AQF level 5, 1 EFTSL at AQF level 5 or above, or equivalent
Australian secondary school certificate, or equivalent Senior Secondary qualification, or Baccalaureate Diploma
Academic IELTS 6.0 (no band less than 5.0) or equivalent
Alternative entry requirements may be available, which may include assessment and approval of prior study or successful completion of a readiness assessment

Check the international course fee schedule for the cost of your course. Onshore international students requiring a student visa should choose campus-based / blended options. Course fees can be paid across three study periods, with each instalment due before the beginning of the academic stage census date. A range of financial scholarships is available to support international students.

If you have already completed a qualification or gained skills through life or work experience, you may be able to credit this against your degree through Recognition of Prior Learning or Course Credit transfer, with further study pathway options also available.
