While studying the Diploma of Dental Technology, you'll have access to a modern laboratory to undertake the practical components of your course. This lab is built to industry standards and contains all the equipment and technology you need to construct and repair different types of dental prosthetics. You will also have the opportunity to use computer aided design (CAD) and computer assisted manufacturing (CAM) tools to train in digital dentistry.
Yes, some units will require assessments to be undertaken in the workplace. A TAFE NSW teacher or assessor will attend Sydney Dental Hospital with you to carry out these assessments.
Before the first clinical experience in a NSW Health facility, you will need to show evidence that you hold a valid Australian Working with Children Check (WWCC), hold a valid Australian National Police Record Check, have a signed NSW Health code of conduct form and any other forms as required by NSW Health, and have undertaken an occupational assessment, screening and vaccinations against infectious diseases with your health care worker/student vaccination record card. You must also complete mandatory online modules including HLTFIN001 and HLTAID003, and participate in a manual dexterity test.
The course fee for international students ranges from $48,700 to $50,160 AUD. Additional costs for uniforms, equipment, textbooks and materials range from $300 to $1,000 AUD per course.
