Common Questions
The course fees vary depending on your eligibility: Concession fee is $29,825 (fee concessions may apply to this subsidised course for eligible students), Subsidised fee is $31,350 (government funded courses available for eligible students), Full fee is $36,475, and International fee is $44,000. Payment options include a payment plan, upfront payment, and VET Student Loans up to a $19,290 cap (note: the Australian Government charges full fee-paying students a 20 per cent loan fee in addition to tuition fees).
There are no formal vocational placement requirements for this qualification. However, TAFE Queensland encourages students to consider volunteering or completing work experience for a period of at least 30 days in a Dental Laboratory within the South East Queensland region to develop practical skills, engage with the industry, and increase future employment opportunities. Following successful completion of the first year of study and practical assessments, students can undertake Work Experience during the second year of study.
Successful completion of the Diploma of Dental Technology will get you guaranteed entry into TAFE Queensland's Bachelor of Dental Prosthetics. You'll be credited for your previous studies and will have the opportunity to study in Brisbane's state-of-the-art dental lab and denture clinic. TAFE Queensland also notes that completing a diploma may give you a full year of credit towards a degree with one of their partner universities.
Students will study in a fully-equipped, state-of-the-art dental lab, which will prepare them for real-world situations while under the supervision of industry professionals. The course is delivered primarily on campus (80% on campus, 20% online), with some training taking place via video or Zoom. Students can contact their teacher via phone, email, face-to-face, or Zoom. Assessments take place both online and on-campus.
International students must meet the following requirements: English Language Proficiency of Academic IELTS 6.0 (no individual band less than 5.5) or equivalent; completion of Year 12 (or equivalent), with non school-leavers required to have relevant work experience or a qualification that indicates likely success of course completion; applicants should be a minimum of 17 years of age and turning 18 during the first year of study. International students under 18 years of age applying for a student visa are required by the Australian Department of Home Affairs to have adequate welfare arrangements in place. Some countries must apply through a TAFE Queensland registered agent.
