Common Questions
To successfully complete the CHC50121 Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care, students must complete 15 units comprising of 12 core units and three (3) elective units.
Yes, this course includes 480 hours of work-based training which will be completed over a period of 20 weeks. During work-based training, students will be able to practice their skills and knowledge in a workplace setting, which will assist students to be job-ready after successfully completing the Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care.
All students must be a minimum of 18 years of age and have successfully completed Year 12 (or equivalent) or a Certificate III or be of mature age. In addition, completion of CHC30121 Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care is required. Students must also undertake a National Police Check and a Working with Children Check prior to commencing their work placement.
Successful completion of the Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care will lay a foundation for successful students to progress into: BSB61015 Advanced Diploma of Leadership and Management, Bachelor in Early Childhood Education, or Bachelor of Social Science (children and family studies). Note that study pathways may include qualifications or courses that may not be offered at Skills Australia Institute.
The Assessment Process is based on the principles of competency based training. Assessment for each unit of competency will be through a combination of classroom based and work placement tasks. Classroom based assessments include but are not limited to: Classroom Exercises, Assignments, Practical Demonstrations, Group Activities, Projects, and Verbal and/or Written Questions. Students may be assessed by a combination of continuous assessments and examinations, which may be based on competencies and marks or a combination of both.
