As a requirement of this course, you will complete 4 work placements totalling 280 hours in an early childhood education setting. This hands-on industry experience will prepare you for your future career as an early childhood educator.
To enrol in the CHC50125 Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care, you must have completed the CHC30113 or CHC30121 Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care, or hold an Australian diploma in Early Childhood Education and Care, or hold an Australian diploma or Certificate III in Children's Services with at least 12 months of cumulative employment (full-time equivalent) in a regulated education and care service in Australia within the last 5 years. Alternatively, you can study the Diploma as a package with the Certificate III (two CoEs: 12 months for Cert III + 12 months for the Diploma).
Completing the CHC50125 Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care will open a study pathway into a Bachelor of Early Childhood Education with ALG's sister company Ikon Institute of Australia, and/or a Bachelor of Early Childhood Teaching, offering more career and professional development opportunities.
International students must meet one of the following English language criteria: an IELTS score of 6.0 (or equivalent) with no individual band score below 5.5 (test results must be no more than 2 years old); or an ALG in-house English proficiency test equivalent to IELTS 6.0; or a Certificate IV level qualification or higher completed within the AQF in Australia within 2 years before starting this course; or completion of the Senior Secondary Certificate of Education in Australia in the English language within 2 years before starting this course.
The CHC50125 Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care is available at ALG campuses in Adelaide, Brisbane, Melbourne, and Sydney. Intakes are offered four times per year: January, April, July, and October.
