The total duration is 104 calendar weeks, comprising 8 terms of 9 weeks each (72 weeks of classroom-based learning), plus 285 hours of work placement (including 280 hours of mandatory work placement and 5 hours of workplace assessment), and 7 break periods of 4 weeks each (28 weeks total).
The course fee is $24,000.00. There is also a non-refundable Administration Fee of $350 to be paid with the deposit, and a Material Fee of $200 which covers the cost of printing of class material, class tests/quiz, and assessment cover forms. Smart and Skilled funding is also available for domestic students for this qualification.
Students must be over 18 years of age, hold a current Working with Children Check (WCC) or be eligible to attain one, and have completed either CHC30121 or CHC30113 Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care. Students must also demonstrate English language proficiency through one of the accepted pathways, such as IELTS 5.5 with no sub-band scores less than 5.0, or completion of EEVI's EAP program, among other options.
Assessment is both formative and summative and a holistic approach has been applied where possible. Evidence gathered is through a combination of direct observations, problem solving through case studies, responses to multiple choice and short answer questions, self-assessments and third-party reports (if applicable). A skills workbook is also required to be completed whilst on work placement.
Following completion of this qualification, candidates may choose to undertake studies at Bachelor Degree level, for example, a Bachelor of Early Childhood Education.
