The course is delivered face to face in the classroom at two campus locations: Parkville, Melbourne and Pyrmont, Sydney.
Entry is open to individuals who hold a CHC30121 Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care (or its equivalent successor) or CHC30113 Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care. Alternatively, individuals may hold an Australian diploma in Early Childhood Education and Care, or an Australian diploma or Certificate III in Children's Services along with at least 12 months of cumulative employment (full-time equivalent) within the last 5 years in a regulated education and care service in Australia. Applicants may also hold the CHCSS00147 Entry into Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care.
Applicants must meet one of the following: IELTS (Academic) overall score of 6.0; TOEFL IBT 60; Cambridge English Advanced (CAE) 169; or PTE Academic 46 or equivalent. English competence can also be demonstrated through a minimum of five years of study in English in specified countries, completion of at least 50% of an AQF level 4 or higher qualification in Australia in English, completion of the Senior Secondary Certificate of Education in Australia in English, or completion of a recognised ELICOS program at upper intermediate level or equivalent.
Students who complete the Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care may go on to study other related higher-level qualifications such as a Bachelor of Education (Early Childhood Teaching) or a Bachelor of Education (Early Childhood and Primary).
The course duration is 1 year full time, comprising 40 weeks of study and 12 weeks of holiday. Intake dates are available in January, April, July, and October 2024.
