The assessment methods for this course include a mandatory practical placement component of 280 hours. You must complete all placement hours to be able to achieve the competency in the units and successfully complete the course.
Domestic students must possess sound written and oral English skills, as training and assessments are conducted in English. They are required to complete a Pre-training and Language Literacy and Numeracy Assessment. Students must also have digital literacy skills and access to a computer and internet. Additionally, a current Police Check and Working with Children Check are required before commencing practical placement. From a training package perspective, applicants must hold a CHC30121 or CHC30113 Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care, or an equivalent Australian diploma, or meet the work experience and entry skillset requirements.
The course runs for 52 weeks for both domestic and international students. It is delivered via blended delivery, which includes face-to-face training, Virtual Classroom (Zoom), and Practical Placement. International students are required to attend a minimum of 20 hours per week over 2.5 days.
Yes, you can apply for Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL), academic credit, and work experience towards this qualification. Through work, volunteer roles, family commitments, and various tasks undertaken in everyday life, you build up a bank of knowledge and skills. Evidence of these accumulated skills and knowledge can be used to help you gain a qualification. A Credit Transfer option is also available.
Graduates of this qualification may pursue a range of roles in early childhood education and care, including Early Childhood Services Co-ordinator, Qualified Room Leader, Early Childhood Educator in Long Day Care, Kindergarten, Preschool, Family Day Care Provider, Outside School Hours Care, Assistant Educator, Occasional Care Educator, or employment as a Nanny.
