Common Questions
This course is designed specifically for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students who are looking to progress their career in early childhood education and care. Dedicated Indigenous Student Support Officers (ISSOs) are available to provide tailored support throughout the course.
The course is available under several fee structures: Fee-Free TAFE ($0) for eligible students under the government initiative; Concession ($75) for eligible concession holders; Subsidised ($1,620) for eligible students accessing government funded places; and Full Fee ($8,790) for students not eligible for subsidies. Students who identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander may be eligible for concession rates.
Courses designed specifically for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students include intensive blocks of training on campus known as residential blocks, with compulsory 5-day residential blocks (dates scheduled on application). Funding support is available for students who need to travel away from their communities to cover necessities like travel, accommodation, and meals.
You will be required to undertake 280 hours of vocational placement in an approved setting as part of the successful achievement of this qualification.
Dedicated ISSOs (Indigenous Student Support Officers) provide tailored support designed to meet the unique needs of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students. ISSOs can provide assistance with enrolment processes, Centrelink ABSTUDY enquiries, tutor support, referrals to other community service providers, enrolment into 'away from base' courses, and personal support.
