About This Course

Take the next step in your Early Childhood Education and Care career with this advanced qualification. This course is perfect for people who are already working in early childhood education and care, and want to progress their career as an educator or service supervisor. The demand for diploma-trained early childhood staff has risen strongly over the past decade, and the number of higher-level vacancies is expected to continue to increase. According to the Australian Government's Job Outlook service, there will be around 10,000 child care centre managers required in Australia over the next five years. This course will give you the skills and practical knowledge to design and implement early childhood programs, by understanding the emotional, physical, cognitive and social needs of young children. Our highly-experienced team of industry professionals will give you the support you need to succeed throughout the course of your studies. Successful completion of this course will qualify you to design and implement early childhood education and care programs. You will be equipped with the skills you need to plan, implement and evaluate programs in line with approved learning frameworks and regulatory requirements. You will also have a solid foundation to continue with further study.

General Requirements

Domestic Students:

You will be invited to complete a Skills Check following your application submission; recommended benchmark levels are 4 in English, 4 in Maths and 3 in Digital Technology. If applying for a VET Student Loan, required levels are Level 4 English and Maths.
Prerequisite: you must hold CHC30121 Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care (or its equivalent successor) or CHC30113 Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care; alternatively, an Australian Diploma in Early Childhood Education and Care, or an Australian Diploma or Certificate III in Children's Services.
In addition, you must demonstrate at least 12 months of cumulative employment (full-time equivalent) within the last 5 years in a regulated education and care service in Australia (verifiable evidence required), or hold CHCSS00147 Entry into Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care.
Existing Worker pathway: you must be currently employed in a regulated Early Childhood Education and Care service throughout your studies, within a set distance of a coordinating campus; workplace visits are required.
280 hours of vocational placement in an approved setting is required; a Working with Children Check (Blue Card) is required.

International Students:

English Language Proficiency: Academic IELTS 6.0 (no individual band less than 5.5) or equivalent
Academic Requirements: Completion of Year 12 (or equivalent); non-school-leavers must have relevant work experience or a qualification indicating likely success
Applicants should be a minimum of 17 years of age and turning 18 during the first year of study
International students under 18 years of age applying for a student visa are required by the Australian Department of Home Affairs to have adequate welfare arrangements in place
