Common Questions
You will need to complete 240 hours in vocational placements in regulated early education and care services throughout the duration of the qualification. If you are not working in a regulated early education and care service, you will be placed by TAFE SA's Placement team.
You will require a current Working with Children check and a Responding to Risks of Harm, Abuse and Neglect (RRHAN) certificate. If you do not have these checks and certificate, you will not be able to commence your vocational placement. Individual Early Education and Care services may also have their own policies on vaccination requirements, and you may need to show evidence of vaccination.
Fee Free TAFE places are available at $0 total cost (subject to eligibility and availability). Subsidised fees total $5,063 for the 12-month course ($2,532 per semester). Concession fees total $3,116 ($1,558 per semester). Full fees are $7,010 ($3,505 per semester). You may also be eligible for up to $6,000 in financial support to offset the cost of your early childhood study, with study to be completed by 2028.
At all campuses except Regency Park, the course is offered part-time only with a duration of 24 months, where students attend online classes and several on-campus workshops at a campus near where they live. At Regency Park, the course is offered full-time only over 12 months, with classes delivered face-to-face on campus.
Yes, you are required to pay for a Working with Children Check, a Responding to Risks of Harm, Abuse and Neglect (RRHAN) certificate, and a TAFE SA polo shirt for Vocational Placement. You will be advised of the associated costs prior to registration.
