Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care

AITE's CHC50125 Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care builds on the Certificate III to prepare graduates for a more senior educator role in regulated children's education and care services across Australia. At this level, educators are responsible for designing and implementing curriculum against an approved learning framework, maintaining compliance across other areas of service operations, and applying specialised theoretical knowledge to diverse work situations — often with responsibility for supervising volunteers or other educators. Delivered face-to-face at AITE's Sunshine (VIC) campus over 66 weeks (42 weeks of classroom delivery, 14 weeks of practical placement and 10 weeks of holidays, with 20 hours of face-to-face training per week), the course covers 15 units of competency spanning compliance, environmental responsibility, health and safety, curriculum planning, holistic child development, family partnerships, creativity, inclusion and team effectiveness. Students complete a minimum of 280 hours of work placement in a regulated Children's Education and Care Services Centre, supported throughout by an AITE trainer/assessor. Graduates are qualified for early childhood educator roles in long day care centres, family day care, pre-schools and kindergartens.
