About This Course

CHC50125 Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care builds on entry-level training to prepare educators for senior roles designing and implementing curriculum in regulated children's education and care services. Delivered by Vocational Augment Training (VAT) at its Melbourne CBD campus over 52 weeks, including a mandatory 14-week work placement, the course combines face-to-face classroom delivery with structured self-study and supervised placement in an approved service. Students complete 15 units of competency covering curriculum planning, holistic learning and development, service compliance, creativity, environmental responsibility and partnership with families, building on entry that requires a Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care or equivalent industry experience. General Requirements

Minimum age of 18 years
Must hold CHC30121/CHC30125 Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care (or its equivalent successor), OR an Australian diploma or Certificate III in Children's Services plus at least 12 months' cumulative relevant employment in the last 5 years, OR hold CHCSS00147 Entry into Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care
English proficiency: IELTS 6.0 (Academic or General) or equivalent (TOEFL iBT 64, PTE Academic 50, Cambridge English Advanced 169, Occupational English Test B in each component); lower scores accepted with additional ELICOS study (+10 or +20 weeks)
Alternative evidence accepted: 5+ years studying in English in Australia, Canada, NZ, Ireland, South Africa, the UK or the US; completion of an Australian foundation course, senior secondary certificate, or 50%+ of a Certificate IV or higher; or citizenship/passport from the UK, US, Canada, NZ or Ireland
Applicants without accepted English-language evidence, and all onshore/offshore applicants generally, must complete VAT's Pre-Training Review and Language, Literacy, Numeracy and Digital (LLND) literacy assessment prior to enrolment
Minimum 280 hours of work placement required, with a valid Working with Children Check, National Police Check and completion of National Child Safety Training prior to placement
