About This Course

This qualification reflects the role of educators in early childhood education and care who work in regulated children's education and care services in Australia. Educators at this level are responsible for designing and implementing curriculum that meets the requirements of an approved learning framework and for maintaining compliance in other areas of service operations. They use specialised knowledge and analyse and apply theoretical concepts to diverse work situations. They may have responsibility for supervision of volunteers or other educators.

Requirements

Age requirement: All students must be over 18 years of age.
English proficiency requirement: Overseas students must demonstrate at least an Upper Intermediate (IELTS 6.0 or equivalent) level of English prior to commencement.
Academic requirement: Complete either a CHC30121 Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care (or its equivalent successor), or CHC30113 Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care.
Alternatively, individuals may hold an Australian diploma in Early Childhood Education and Care or an Australian diploma or certificate III in Children's Service and demonstrate at least 12 months of cumulative employment (full-time equivalent) within the last 5 years in a regulated education and care service in Australia, supported by verifiable evidence.
Or hold the CHCSS00147 Entry into Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care.

Employment outcomes from this qualification may include: Early Childhood Educator – Room Leader, Centre Supervisor, Educational Leader, Family Day Care Educator, Preschool Assistant, Outside School Hours Care (OSHC) and Vacation Care Educator – 5-12 years, Nanny or in-home Educator. Upon successful completion students may elect to undertake higher education pathway or seek an employment outcome.

How much does the Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care cost?

The Tuition Fee of this course is $18,000 payable in six instalments of $4,500 each. There is an additional non-refundable $500 Enrolment Fee payable at the time of enrolment, and a $1,000 Materials Fee payable for this course (refundable if you decide to cancel your course prior to commencement).

Is there a work placement requirement for this course?

Yes, this course requires you to complete 280 hours of supervised work placement in a regulated children's education and care service in Australia. The Capstone work placement coordinator will assist you to find work placement. Before starting work placement, students must apply for a Work with Children Check (WWCC) and provide information requested by the work placement host venue to support mandatory workforce record-keeping.

What qualification will I receive upon completing this course?

Students who successfully complete this course will be issued with a CHC50125 Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care. A Statement of Attainment will be issued to students who partially complete this course. All certification documentation will be issued by the Ballarat Academy Pty Ltd trading as Capstone Institute of Australia.

What are the English language requirements for international students?

Overseas students must demonstrate at least an Upper Intermediate (IELTS 6.0 or equivalent) level of English prior to commencement. The course is delivered and assessed exclusively in English.

What types of assessment tasks are used in this course?

Students are provided with an assessment manual at the commencement of each unit of competency, along with standard learner materials. Each unit will comprise a number of assessment tasks which include providing responses to short answer questions; compiling a portfolio of evidence of completed work; and participating in practical activities such as demonstrations, role-plays and presentations.
