Course Overview
The course provides an introduction to general engineering studies. The course is equivalent to the first year of an undergraduate engineering degree and will facilitate articulation into the second year of an undergraduate degree offered by the Faculty of Science and Engineering. Students will be introduced to fundamental knowledge and concepts in Engineering.
The Diploma of Engineering is a diploma consisting of a minimum of 80 credit points, taught in English, which normally takes 28 weeks of full-time study or part-time equivalent. The course structure requires successful completion of eight units of study. Most students are admitted on the basis of successful completion of secondary studies or by alternative pathways for non-current school leavers. Graduates of the diploma program are eligible to progress to a range of bachelor degrees.

To meet the mathematics entry requirement, you need to have achieved at least Band 4 in HSC Mathematics Advanced, or at least E2 in either HSC Mathematics Extension 1 or Mathematics Extension 2.
Yes, HSC Physics is a mandatory entry requirement. You must have achieved a minimum of Band 2 in HSC Physics to be eligible for academic entry into the Diploma of Engineering.
Accepted English subjects include English Standard, English as an Additional Language or Dialect, and English Advanced (all requiring a minimum of Band 3), as well as English Extension 1 (minimum E2) and English Extension 2 (minimum E2).
In addition to the core mathematics, physics, and English requirements, applicants must present two further subjects — either any Category A subject not already used (minimum Band 3) or any Extension subject not already used (minimum E2).
