Common Questions
Successful completion of the Diploma of Engineering will guarantee you entry and up to eight (8) units of credit towards the Southern Cross University Bachelor of Engineering (Honours). The course also provides a pathway to further study at an Associate Degree or Bachelor level.
For domestic students, the indicative fee is $9,318 for the first year only, and the course is offered as a Commonwealth Supported Place, meaning the Government pays some of the fees and you pay the rest as the Student Contribution Amount (SCA). Eligible students can defer the SCA through a HECS-HELP loan.
For international students studying at the Gold Coast campus, the annual tuition fee is $26,000 (calculated at $3,250 per unit, based on completing 8 units per year). Tuition fees are in Australian dollars and are subject to change, including annual increases over the duration of the course. Students are also required to pay OSHC for the duration of their visa in advance.
The Southern Cross Model involves shorter, six-week unit structures designed around immersive and interactive learning experiences. Lectures are replaced with active, interactive and discussion-based learning. On-campus students experience lectures, tutorials, online activities and video-linked or podcast virtual classes, while online students engage through podcast or video-linked lectures, electronic study materials, workshops, online discussion forums and virtual classes.
For domestic students, the Diploma of Engineering is available at Gold Coast (Term 1 and Term 3), Lismore (Term 1 and Term 3), and Online (Term 1 and Term 3), with start dates in March and July. For international students, the course is available at the Gold Coast campus with start dates in March and June (Term 1 and Term 3).

Honestly I was lost when I first started looking at Australian colleges. There are just too many options and every agent gives you different info. A friend told me about FindTheCourses and within a week I had shortlisted 3 programs that actually matched my budget and visa situation. My advisor Sanjay was super helpful — never felt like I was being pushed into anything.
