About This Course

Build a foundation in engineering technology with La Trobe's Diploma of Engineering Technology.

In this diploma, you will develop core skills in programming, modelling, engineering design, electrical and electronic engineering, and mechanics of solids. You will study across engineering, computer science, mathematics and physics, while building early experience through project-based learning and practical activities.

You can choose from streams in civil engineering or artificial intelligence. Depending on your stream, you will explore physics and introductory AI concepts, or combine engineering physics with computer-aided design.

By studying the Diploma of Engineering Technology, you will learn how to:

apply programming to engineering and scientific problems
use modelling tools to understand systems, change and real-world problems
develop solutions through engineering design and problem solving
interpret electrical, electronic, mechanical and physical principles
connect engineering technology problems to further study in engineering.

General Requirements

Domestic students:

Recent secondary education (Year 12)

VCE: Units 3 and 4: a study score of at least 20 in any Mathematics. Units 3 and 4: a study score of at least 25 in English (EAL) or at least 20 in English other than EAL.
