Common Questions
Students must successfully complete a total of 28 units of competency to achieve the SIT50422 Diploma of Hospitality Management, comprising 11 core units and 17 elective units.
Yes. Students who have already completed Certificate III in Commercial Cookery and Certificate IV in Kitchen Management with Ashton College will receive credit transfers for the 21 units they have completed and will therefore only be required to complete the remaining 7 units in order to acquire the SIT50422 Diploma of Hospitality Management qualification. These 7 units are delivered over 26 weeks.
International Students applying for this qualification must have a minimum English language proficiency of IELTS 6.0 overall band score (or equivalent). Equivalent scores include PTE Academic 50, Cambridge English Advanced (CAE) 169, OET a score of at least B for each component, or TOEFL iBT 64. Lower scores may be accepted if accompanied by at least 10 or 20 weeks of ELICOS study. Exemptions apply to citizens of Canada, New Zealand, the Republic of Ireland, the United Kingdom, or the United States of America.
Students who successfully complete this qualification may progress onto the SIT60322 Advanced Diploma of Hospitality Management or a Higher Education qualification in management. For employment, this qualification provides a pathway to work in any hospitality industry sector as a departmental or small business manager, with employers including restaurants, hotels, motels, catering operations, clubs, pubs, cafés, and coffee shops.
Students will be provided with opportunities for re-assessment if they fail to demonstrate competency during assessment tasks. Students will be permitted 2 attempts to demonstrate competency in each assessment. If they are still unable to demonstrate satisfactory competence at this point, they must re-enrol in the unit and undertake the training again. In certain cases, students may be advised to re-enrol in further training before re-attempting assessments.

Honestly I was lost when I first started looking at Australian colleges. There are just too many options and every agent gives you different info. A friend told me about FindTheCourses and within a week I had shortlisted 3 programs that actually matched my budget and visa situation. My advisor Sanjay was super helpful — never felt like I was being pushed into anything.
