Common Questions
The tuition fee for the SIT50416 Diploma of Hospitality Management is AUD $9,500.00. There is also an enrolment fee of AUD $300.00 and a resource fee of AUD $800.00. The resource fee ensures students receive printed notes, learning material and access to Wi-Fi for the duration of their course.
Yes, Work Based Training (WBT) is a compulsory part of this qualification. It is aimed at giving students a varied experience in a real-life situation under normal commercial pressures. VCI may provide work placement through third party arrangements, but students should also find their own practical work placement at an organisation of their choice. A WBT Logbook must be maintained recording each service period, the date, its duration and tasks performed, and each session must be signed off by a supervisor.
All units of competence will be assessed using a selection of tools including observation of the learner performing and demonstrating practical tasks, written and oral questions, written reports, projects, and work-based training. Practical training and assessment is completed in commercial kitchens, including VCI's own commercial kitchen.
Yes, Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) is available. RPL is the assessment process for recognising competencies gained through previous learning, work, and life experiences. Students who have completed any of the subjects or have relevant practical experience can contact VCI prior to enrolment. Candidates are required to provide evidence that is valid, authentic, current and sufficient to demonstrate competency in the specific subject or subjects.
The course runs for 52 weeks full time, including 8 weeks of holidays, and is delivered face-to-face at VCI's Brisbane campus. Intake dates are available in January 2023, April 2023, July 2023, and October 2023.

Honestly I was lost when I first started looking at Australian colleges. There are just too many options and every agent gives you different info. A friend told me about FindTheCourses and within a week I had shortlisted 3 programs that actually matched my budget and visa situation. My advisor Sanjay was super helpful — never felt like I was being pushed into anything.
