To be issued the qualification, a student must be assessed as competent in all 28 units of competency and complete the 360 hours work placement of SITHCCC043 Work effectively as a cook.
Students are required to complete 360 hours of work placement within a commercial kitchen as part of the unit SITHCCC043 Work effectively as a cook, covering 48 service periods. New Era Institute has a network of workplaces that will take students for their placement. Students who already have work in a suitable commercial cooking environment will be able to use evidence gained from their work to meet these requirements.
Yes. Students may apply for Credit Transfer (CT) or Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) for existing qualifications, skills, knowledge, and experience relevant to units of competency within the course. Students who have completed the Certificate IV in Kitchen Management may be eligible for credit transfer that could reduce the course duration of the Diploma of Hospitality Management.
Classroom sessions are located at the Windsor campus at 13 & 14/100 George Street, Windsor NSW 2756. Practical commercial kitchen sessions are conducted at Suite 203, Level 2/118 Church Street, Parramatta NSW 2150. The course is delivered in a blended mode for a minimum of 20 hours per week.
Students who do not complete the full qualification will receive a Statement of Attainment for the units they have successfully completed. Students who wish to continue their studies may seek other courses such as the Advanced Diploma of Hospitality Management or higher education programs.
