The qualification is expected to be completed in 104 weeks, which includes 80 weeks of face to face training and assessment spread over 8 terms of 10 weeks each, and 24 weeks of term breaks (accumulative). Students will also need to complete a work placement of 208 hours for the units SITHCCC043 and SITHIND008 as part of their course.
The tuition fee is $15,500 AUD, with a non-refundable application fee of $250 AUD and a material fee of $1,200 AUD. Fees are paid in instalments across 8 study periods, starting with a deposit of $2,050 AUD tuition fees, $250 AUD application fee, and $1,200 AUD material fee prior to being issued a CoE. Each subsequent period is $2,050 AUD, with the final period being $1,150 AUD.
Yes, work placement is required — students must complete 208 hours of work placement for the units SITHCCC043 and SITHIND008. Mercury Institute of Victoria will ensure placement of all students to ensure international students with limited exposure to the Australian workplace are not disadvantaged. Students also have the option to arrange their own work placement provided it meets all requirements, and the assessor will visit and assess the student at least twice during this time.
Applicants must demonstrate an English language proficiency level of one of the following: an IELTS band score of 5.5 or equivalent, or an IELTS band score of 5.0 combined with successful completion of an ELICOS course of a minimum of 10 weeks.
After completing the SIT50422 Diploma of Hospitality Management, participants can progress to the SIT60322 Advanced Diploma of Hospitality Management. Possible career outcomes include roles such as banquet or function manager, bar manager, café manager, club manager, front office manager, motel manager, and restaurant manager.
