There are 3 pathways available: the Cookery Pathway (for those who have completed Certificate III or IV in Kitchen Management), the Food and Beverage Pathway (for those looking to move into hotel or hospitality management, including bar operation, visitor information, and RSA/RGS training), and the Patisserie Pathway (for those who have completed Certificate III or IV in Patisserie).
Yes, it is a requirement that whilst undertaking this course you have access to a workplace through either paid or unpaid work employment for the duration of one term. The specific unit varies by pathway: Food and Beverage Pathway students complete SITHIND008 Work effectively in hospitality service, Commercial Cookery Pathway students complete SITHCCC043 Work effectively as a cook, and Patisserie Pathway students complete SITHKOP013 Plan cooking operations.
This course is 8 terms (92 weeks) and is delivered through a combination of on-campus study and work-based learning.
International students must meet an English Proficiency score of 6.0 with no band score below 5.5, in addition to being a minimum of 18 years of age and holding Year 12 or equivalent in the Australian education system.
Graduates can progress to a Bachelor of Business or a Bachelor of Hospitality Management. Short courses such as RSA, RCG, and a Food Safety Supervisor Certificate are also available to boost employability skills.
