About This Course

This qualification reflects the role of highly skilled senior operators who use a broad range of hospitality skills combined with managerial skills and sound knowledge of industry to coordinate hospitality operations. They operate independently, have responsibility for others and make a range of operational business decisions. This qualification provides a pathway to work in any hospitality industry sector as a departmental or small business manager. The diversity of employers includes restaurants, hotels, motels, catering operations, clubs, pubs, cafés, and coffee shops. This qualification allows for multiskilling and for acquiring targeted skills in accommodation services, cookery, food and beverage and gaming.

Eligibility

Entry Requirements

General Requirements

Be 18 years and above
Have completed Year 12 or equivalent
Participate in a course entry interview to determine suitability for the course and student needs
Have an IELTS Overall score of 6.0 or equivalent English proficiency (test results must be no more than 2 years old); OR IELTS Overall band score 5.5 or equivalent, if packaged with at least 10 weeks' ELICOS; OR IELTS Overall band score of 5.0 or equivalent, if packaged with at least 20 weeks' ELICOS
English language competence can also be demonstrated through: 5 years of education in an English-speaking country; successful completion of a foundation course in Australia; successful completion of the College English Placement Test; or successful completion of a substantial component (more than 50%) of an AQF Certificate IV or higher course conducted in Australia in English within the 2 years before applying (while holding a student visa)
Where English language proficiency cannot be demonstrated by the above means, students will be required to complete the Versant Placement Test, with results mapped back to IELTS requirements
Note: Other English language tests such as PTE and TOEFL may be accepted if results are confirmed equivalent to IELTS 6.0

Is work placement a requirement of this course?
