Common Questions
To enrol in the Diploma of Hospitality Management, you must be 18 years of age or over, have completed Year 12 (HSC or equivalent), and, for international students, hold a minimum of 5.5 IELTS score or equivalent.
A total of 28 units must be completed: 11 core units and 17 elective units covering areas such as customer service, finance, HR, work health and safety, housekeeping, and business management.
Graduates can pursue roles such as Banquet or function manager, Hotel manager, Restaurant manager, Front office manager, Kitchen manager, Executive housekeeper, Sous chef, Chef de cuisine, Chef patissier, Gaming manager, or Unit manager in catering operations, across a range of employers including restaurants, hotels, motels, clubs, pubs, and cafés.
After successful completion of this qualification, graduates may choose to progress to the Advanced Diploma of Hospitality Management or apply for entry into university.
Yes, students who hold a relevant certificate or can provide evidence of hospitality experience may submit verified Certificates or Statements of Attainment issued by an RTO for recognition purposes. Students with a Certificate or Statement of Attainment for Certificate II, III and IV and/or individual units may be exempted from some core or elective units. The RPL pathway is particularly suited to existing workers, recent migrants, individuals with overseas qualifications, people returning to the workplace, and people with disabilities or injuries requiring a career change.
