Diploma of Hospitality Management

This qualification reflects the role of individuals who apply a broad range of hospitality management and leadership skills, combining supervisory experience with specialised commercial cookery knowledge. Delivered over 78 weeks (60 study weeks plus holidays), the course combines classroom-based teaching at Auswide College's Parramatta campus with practical, face-to-face training in a commercial kitchen and a hospitality work placement, totalling 14 hours of contact time and 6 hours of structured self-study each week. Across its 26 units of competency, students learn to prepare and monitor budgets, manage finances, lead and roster staff, manage conflict and quality customer service, and prepare a range of dishes to a professional standard. The course is aimed at students building a career as a chef or hospitality manager in pubs, hotels, cafes and restaurants, and provides a pathway to further study such as the SIT60322 Advanced Diploma of Hospitality Management.
