Diploma of Hospitality Management

The Diploma of Hospitality Management (SIT50422) at TasTAFE provides students with the skills and knowledge required for senior hospitality management roles. TasTAFE notes that this course is currently only available for enrolment by international students. The Diploma follows on from the Certificate III in Commercial Cookery and the Certificate IV in Kitchen Management, forming the final stage of TasTAFE's Commercial Cookery package of courses, and students are trained by teachers with extensive management experience and expertise. Core units develop the senior management capabilities required to run a hospitality operation: enhancing customer service experiences, developing and managing quality customer service practices, preparing and monitoring budgets, identifying and managing legal risks and complying with law, establishing and conducting business relationships, and implementing and monitoring work health and safety practices.

All elective units in the qualification are credit transferred from SIT30821 Certificate III in Commercial Cookery and SIT40521 Certificate IV in Kitchen Management, which is why completion of those qualifications is an entry requirement. The course runs for 26 weeks at 20 hours per week and is delivered in Hobart and Launceston, with a February intake at both campuses and a July intake in Launceston only, at AUD $8,645. Graduates are equipped to seek senior roles including Hotel Manager, Catering Manager and Executive Chef, or to operate their own restaurant.
