Diploma of Hospitality Management

The Diploma of Hospitality Management (SIT50422) prepares graduates for supervisory and entry-level management roles across the hospitality industry, including Accommodation and Hospitality Manager, Kitchen Manager, Food and Beverage Manager and outlet manager positions. Delivered by Veritas Institute Australia in Geelong, the course covers marketing, financial management, human resource management, workplace diversity, relevant legal knowledge, staff rostering and quality hospitality service, reflecting the role of a skilled operator who coordinates hospitality operations with a degree of independence. Training is face-to-face for a minimum of 20 hours per week, combined with work-based training of 48 complete food service periods (192 hours) in a commercial kitchen. The course runs over 98 weeks in total, made up of 80 weeks of face-to-face training and assessment plus 18 weeks of term breaks and holidays, in addition to the work placement. It provides a flexible career pathway as a departmental or small business manager across restaurants, hotels, motels, catering operations, clubs, pubs and cafés, and can lead into the Advanced Diploma of Hospitality Management or a bachelor's degree with another provider. No occupational licensing, certification or specific legislative requirements apply to this qualification at the time of publication.
