Diploma of Hospitality Management

The SIT50422 Diploma of Hospitality Management prepares students for the role of a highly skilled, independent hospitality operator responsible for coordinating operations and making a range of business decisions. Core units cover enhancing and managing customer service experiences, rostering and leading staff, managing conflict, preparing and monitoring budgets, identifying and managing legal risk, monitoring work operations, establishing business relationships, and implementing work health and safety practices. A substantial set of elective units builds practical food preparation skills across food safety, basic cookery methods, appetisers, salads, stocks, sauces, soups, poultry, meat, seafood, cheese, baked goods, and special dietary requirements, giving graduates broad operational grounding alongside their management training. The course is delivered at The Centre of Excellence's Melbourne and Richmond (North Geelong) campuses over 87 study weeks plus 15 weeks of holidays, with new intakes accepted every month. Because this qualification falls under the Management and Commerce field of education, it is not eligible for extended Post-Study Work Rights. On graduating, students are equipped for senior operational roles in hotels, restaurants and event venues, including hospitality manager, operations supervisor and event coordinator positions, with independent responsibility for coordinating hospitality operations and managing staff.
