About This Course

The Diploma of Hospitality Management (SIT50422) prepares students for departmental, operational or small-business manager roles across the hospitality industry. Graduates work independently, take responsibility for others, and make a range of operational business decisions in sectors from restaurants and hotels to cafés and catering.

Delivered face-to-face at The Bright College's Perth campus, 3 days a week (20 hours), the course runs 78 weeks for direct-entry students, or 26 weeks for Bright College students progressing from the Certificate IV in Kitchen Management, with recognised credit for shared units between the two qualifications.

The program covers customer service, legal compliance, staff recruitment and performance monitoring, budgeting and business relationship management, alongside a substantial elective bank in commercial cookery, food safety and special dietary requirements, reflecting a genuine pathway from kitchen operations into hospitality management.

Graduates are prepared for roles such as restaurant, banquet, kitchen or motel/hotel manager, and may progress to the Advanced Diploma of Hospitality Management.

Minimum 18 years of age at course commencement
Successful completion of Year 12 or above
English language proficiency: IELTS 6.0 overall (minimum 5.5 in each band), or equivalent (PTE, TOEFL, EAP, CE, etc.)
A valid Unique Student Identifier (USI)
Pre-enrolment Language, Literacy, Numeracy and Digital Literacy assessment, confirming ACSF Level 3 in Learning, Reading, Writing, Oral Communication and Numeracy
