Diploma of Information Technology

This qualification reflects the role of individuals in a variety of information and communications technology (ICT) roles who have established specialised skills in a technical ICT function. Individuals in these roles carry out moderately complex tasks in specialist fields, working independently, as part of a team or leading deliverables with others. They may apply their skills across a wide range of industries, business functions and departments, or as a business owner (sole trader/contractor). The skills required for these roles may include, but are not restricted to: Advanced programming: applying intermediate and advanced programming skills, managing data and building advanced user interfaces to manage organisational requirements. Front end web development: designing dynamic and complex websites, user experience solutions and documents using extensible mark-up languages. Across twenty units students build advanced user interfaces, apply intermediate object-oriented and advanced programming skills, manage data persistence using noSQL data stores, implement model view controller frameworks, debug and monitor applications, design user experience solutions, build dynamic websites and complex page layouts, develop complex cascading style sheets and work with extensible markup language, while also promoting workplace cyber security, leading teams, managing client problems and managing ICT projects. The course runs over 104 weeks at the Sydney campus in a blended face-to-face and online format at 20 hours per week. Pathways from the qualification include ICT60220 Advanced Diploma of Information Technology or other Advanced Diploma qualifications.
