Common Questions
To enrol in the Diploma of Information Technology (ICT50220), applicants must have completed senior high school to the Australian Year 12 or equivalent, and be at least 18 years of age at the time of enrolment. Mature age students may also enter based on an interview with VIT staff. English language requirements include an Academic IELTS band score of 5.5 or equivalent, completion of a Cert III in EAL, satisfactory completion of ELICOS at Upper Intermediate level, or completion of any Australian AQF Certificate III or higher qualification, among other accepted pathways.
The Diploma of Information Technology (ICT50220) has a duration of 66 weeks including course breaks. The course fee is $15,500.
The Diploma of Information Technology is available on-campus at Melbourne, Adelaide, and Sydney locations. The 2026 intake dates are 09 February, 16 March, 04 May, 08 June, 20 July, and 24 August 2026. Please note that currently no domestic courses are available in Adelaide or Geelong.
After achieving the ICT50220 – Diploma of Information Technology, individuals could progress to the ICT60220 – Advanced Diploma of Information Technology, a Bachelor of Information Technology Systems, or similar qualifications.
The Institute will use a range of assessment methods during this course which include and may not be limited to Questions, Assignments, Projects, Case Studies, Activities, Third Party Reports/Logbooks, Portfolio, Observations, Tests and Written Assessments.
