Applicants may be considered for admission if they have a Bachelor's degree or an equivalent postgraduate qualification in any discipline, a tertiary education qualification at AQF level 6 or above in a related field, or equivalent professional experience as determined by the relevant Associate Dean. International applicants must also meet the English language requirement of IELTS Overall Score 6.0 with no band less than 5.5.

Successful completion of the Graduate Diploma of Information Technology provides direct entry and up to eight units of credit towards the Master of Information Technology at Southern Cross University. Upon progression to the Master's level, students choose a specialisation in either Artificial Intelligence or Cybersecurity.

The annual tuition fee for international students is $26,000 (based on $3,250 per unit, completing 8 units per year). Tuition fees are in Australian dollars and are subject to change, including annual increases over the duration of the course. Students are also required to pay OSHC for the duration of their visa in advance, and non-tuition fees cover textbooks, stationery and excursions.

To be eligible to receive the Graduate Diploma of Information Technology, students must complete the equivalent of 8 units (96 credit points), comprising 7 core units (84 credit points) and 1 option unit (12 credit points). Core units include Programming Concepts, Cybersecurity Governance and Risk Management, Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning Essentials, Professional Practices in Information Technology, Computer Networking and Cloud Computing, Database Design and Management, and Managing Information Technology Projects. Option units include Security of Applications and Systems and Programming Paradigms.
