The Diploma of Information Technology provides guaranteed* entry into the second year of a Bachelor of Information Technology, Bachelor of Business Information Systems or Bachelor of Computer Science at the University of Wollongong (UOW). You will gain the skills to succeed in your UOW bachelor and explore various disciplines including programming, systems analysis, networks and web technologies. You will also graduate with a Higher Education Diploma to help get you into the workforce while completing your bachelor's degree. This course consists of three sessions, each lasting 14 weeks, and is offered by our pathway provider, UOW College Australia. UOW College offers three intakes each year, giving you the flexibility to start your studies at different times throughout the year. *The guarantee is subject to meeting UOW entry requirements as described in the course outline. Upon successful completion of this course, you will gain guaranteed entry into the second year (8 subjects, 48 credit points) of the following UOW courses: Bachelor of Business Information Systems, Bachelor of Computer Science, and Bachelor of Information Technology.
UOW College offers three intakes each year: Autumn 2026, Spring 2026, and Summer 2026, giving you the flexibility to start your studies at different times throughout the year. Both UOW College Wollongong and UOW College Liverpool campuses are available for the Autumn intake, while Spring and Summer intakes are available at Wollongong.
The minimum entry requirements include: a minimum ATAR of 35; or 4 HSC Subjects ≥65%; or 3 HSC Subjects ≥70%. Applicants who completed Year 12 more than 2 years ago will be required to undertake a basic literacy online test. Additionally, Year 12 HSC Mathematics Advanced ≥ 50% (or equivalent) is a mandatory Subject Requirement for those seeking a progressive offer to the Bachelor of Technology at UOW.
Yes. If you have undertaken previous studies at UOW College or another Higher Education provider, you may be eligible to receive credit towards your course for your prior learning. Credit for prior learning requires an assessment of your past learning for equivalency with subjects delivered in your chosen course.
