About This Course

Advance your IT career with this high-level course and learn specialist skills in networking, system administration and virtualisation. According to the Australian Government's Job Outlook service, there is strong future job growth predicted for computer network professionals. This large occupation is expected to create around 17,000 job openings over the next five years. In this specialisation you will learn how to install and manage complex IT networks, configure and manage virtual computing environments, and manage network security. You will also develop the skills required to install an enterprise virtual computing environment. Successful completion of this course will qualify you to work in a variety of roles in the IT industry such network administrator, web developer, or computer programmer. It will also give you the foundation skills needed to undertake further studies in your field. Study locations include Greater Brisbane and Darling Downs and South West, delivered on campus, with TAFE at School and International options also available.

Requirements

Domestic students will be invited to complete a Skills Check after application submission; recommended benchmark levels are 4 in English, 4 in Maths, and 4 in Digital Technology.
For VET Student Loan academic eligibility, Level 4 English and Maths is required as outlined by Commonwealth guidelines.
It is highly recommended that applicants evidence one of the following: a Certificate III level qualification from the ICT Information and Communication Technology Training Package; industry certifications in the field of the Diploma; or prior Information Technology experience or technical background relevant to the Diploma.
If you are under 17 years of age, special enrolment conditions apply.
International students: Academic IELTS 6.0 (no individual band less than 5.5) or equivalent English Language Proficiency.
International students: Completion of Year 12 (or equivalent); non school-leavers must have relevant work experience or qualification indicating likely success of course completion.
International students: Applicants should be a minimum of 17 years of age and turning 18 during the first year of study with TAFE Queensland.
International students under 18 applying for a student visa must have adequate welfare arrangements in place as required by the Australian Government Department of Home Affairs.
TAFE at School Foundation Program: Open to Year 11 and 12 students (in some instances Year 10 students may be considered) enrolled at a participating high school; course duration cannot exceed remaining high school studies.
Resources: Access to a reliable internet connection, a computer with minimum 16GB RAM and i7 processor (or equivalent) capable of running Virtual Machines, Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat Reader, and a 1TB SSD portable external drive.
