Melbourne Polytechnic provides interior design students with real world experience before they graduate, including the opportunity for internships with industry partners and associates, student-run stalls at the Melbourne Home Show, and annual interior design competitions, so you can enter the industry job ready with an active portfolio.
For government subsidised students, the tuition fee is $7,300 plus a maximum annual amenities fee of $260, totalling $7,560. For non-subsidised students, the tuition fee is $12,750 plus $260 amenities, totalling $13,010. Please note that displayed fees are indicative only and subject to change based on individual circumstances at enrolment.
The Diploma of Interior Design is delivered at the Preston Campus and runs for 12 months full time. The next intake commences in February.
Melbourne Polytechnic's design teachers have consulted with a variety of excellent industry contacts and affiliations, including the Design Institute of Australia, Design Matters (BDAV) and a range of retailers, designers and decorators, ensuring that everything students learn is timeless or on trend.
Graduates can pursue a range of careers including Interior Designer, Interior Decorator, Interior Design Consultant, Retail Consultant, and Interior Stylist. You might also become a colour, furnishing or lighting consultant, an interior stylist, a decoration consultant, or move into sales or assisting architects, or establish your own interior design business.
