Diploma of Leadership and Management

The BSB50420 Diploma of Leadership and Management at New Cambridge College Sydney (NCCS) reflects the role of individuals who apply knowledge, practical skills and experience in leadership and management across a range of enterprise and industry contexts. Individuals at this level display initiative and judgement in planning, organising, implementing and monitoring their own workload and the workload of others. They use communication skills to support individuals and teams to meet organisational or enterprise requirements, and they may plan, design, apply and evaluate solutions to unpredictable problems, and identify, analyse and synthesise information from a variety of sources. The qualification consists of 12 units of competency (6 core units and 6 electives) covering developing critical thinking in others, leading and managing effective workplace relationships, developing and using emotional intelligence, communicating with influence, managing business operational plans and team effectiveness, coordinating workforce plan implementation, managing business risk, managing organisational customer service and meetings, coordinating recruitment and onboarding, and undertaking project work. NCCS delivers the course using a Blended Learning approach over 20 hours per week for 52 weeks, structured as 6 terms of study of 6 weeks each with up to 16 weeks of holiday. Students receive assessment booklets, a Student Guide and resources, PowerPoint slides, computers, MS Office and the units of competency. Assessment may include written questioning and exercises, oral questioning, projects, case study analysis, written reports, demonstration, presentation, role play and portfolio.
