Diploma of Leadership and Management

The BSB50420 Diploma of Leadership and Management at Victorian College of Education Australia (VCEA) reflects the role of individuals who apply knowledge, practical skills and experience in leadership and management across a range of enterprise and industry contexts. The qualification comprises 12 units — 6 core units and 6 electives — covering ensuring a safe workplace for a work area, managing budgets and financial plans, developing and using emotional intelligence, leading and managing effective workplace relationships, facilitating continuous improvement, managing business operational plans, managing people performance, communicating with influence, developing critical thinking in others, managing team effectiveness, managing personal and professional development, and managing business risk. Candidates may enter the qualification with one year of vocational experience in a leadership and management area, or by having completed a Certificate IV in Leadership and Management or a similar qualification.

Delivery is face to face in the classroom at VCEA's Queen Street campus in Melbourne, with assessment through classroom activity, projects, case studies and assignments. The course runs for 52 weeks full time including holidays and orientation. Tuition is $14,500, plus a non-refundable enrolment fee of $450 and a materials fee of $600. Graduates can move into a range of employment or further study options, including the Advanced Diploma of Leadership and Management or study at higher education level, and typically work in roles such as Manager, Assistant Manager or Program Coordinator.
