Diploma of Leadership and Management

The BSB50420 Diploma of Leadership and Management is designed for students who want to apply practical leadership and management skills and knowledge across a range of enterprise and industry contexts. Students develop the initiative and judgement needed to plan, organise, implement and monitor both their own workload and that of others, along with the communication skills required to support individuals and teams in meeting organisational requirements. The course builds capability in planning, designing, applying and evaluating solutions to unpredictable problems, and in identifying, analysing and synthesising information from a range of sources. It suits students seeking to move into a leadership or management role, transition into a new industry sector, or build toward higher-level qualifications such as the Advanced Diploma of Leadership and Management. Twelve units are covered in total — six core and six elective — spanning areas such as communication, team effectiveness, budgeting and workplace relationships. Training is delivered in blended mode, combining 15 hours of face-to-face learning with 5 hours online via Moodle, across 52 weeks (40 weeks of training and assessment over four 10-week terms, plus 12 weeks of holidays), at Alpha Institute's Belconnen (ACT) and Sydney CBD (NSW) campuses.
