Diploma of Leadership and Management

The BSB50420 Diploma of Leadership and Management is a nationally accredited qualification offered by The Business School (TBS) in Campsie, NSW, that builds on Certificate IV-level skills for more senior leadership and management roles. It reflects the role of individuals who apply well-developed knowledge, practical skills and experience to plan, organise, implement and monitor their own workload and the workload of others across a range of enterprise and industry contexts. Students develop sound leadership knowledge, emotional intelligence and communication skills to motivate and manage groups of people, evaluate marketing opportunities and support recruitment, selection and induction of staff. To be awarded the qualification, students must demonstrate competency in 6 core units plus 6 elective units, 12 units in total, covering areas such as developing and using emotional intelligence, managing business operational plans, managing team effectiveness and communicating with influence. Domestic students complete the course fully online and self-paced via TBS's Learning Management System over approximately 72 weeks, with ongoing trainer support provided by email. International students instead attend face-to-face classes at TBS's Campsie campus over roughly 74 weeks across 6 terms, including scheduled holiday breaks, with a minimum of 20 scheduled contact hours per week. Assessment methods include direct observation, product-based tasks such as reports, portfolios and presentations, and written and verbal questioning. Students with relevant prior knowledge or experience may apply for Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL), Credit Transfer or National Recognition. Graduates are prepared for roles such as Office Manager, Administration Manager, Business Development Manager or Project Coordinator, with a pathway into the BSB60120 Advanced Diploma of Leadership and Management or further tertiary study such as a Bachelor of Business.
