Diploma of Leadership and Management

The Diploma of Leadership and Management (BSB50420) at TasTAFE helps current and aspiring leaders unlock their leadership potential and accelerate their path to success across a broad range of industries. The qualification is ideal for people who have considerable experience in their industry and want to gain the skills and expertise needed to develop as an effective leader and manager. Students explore the critical capabilities of an effective leader and develop skills to establish effective workplace relationships, lead team cohesiveness, manage quality customer service and improve their emotional intelligence. The course also covers managing operational, budget and financial plans, supporting the recruitment, selection and induction of staff, managing risk and ensuring a safe workplace, with electives spanning difficult conversations, health and wellness programs, business resources, continuous improvement, diversity and inclusion, and project management. International students additionally study finance, operations, communication, human resource management and strategy development.

This qualification particularly benefits supervisors or middle managers responsible for a team of people, and those who participate in operational planning and change management. Domestically the course is delivered online, full-time or part-time, and is available to apprentices and trainees, with tuition of $6,075 subsidised or $12,775 commercial plus a $228 learning resource fee. International students study for 52 weeks in Hobart at 20 hours per week with a February intake, at AUD $14,240. On successful completion, graduates are able to apply their knowledge, practical skills and experience in leadership and management across a range of business and industry contexts.
