Diploma of Leadership and Management

The Diploma of Leadership and Management (BSB50420) reflects the role of individuals who apply specialised knowledge and skills, together with experience in leadership and management, across a range of enterprise and industry contexts. At this level, students use initiative and judgement to plan and implement leadership and management functions, taking accountability for personal and team outcomes within broad parameters. The course develops cognitive and communication skills to identify, analyse and synthesise information from a variety of sources and to transfer that knowledge to others, along with creative and conceptual skills to respond to complex workplace problems. It is nationally recognised under the Australian Qualifications Framework and is delivered by Yarra College Australia in a classroom environment with internet access. Students complete 12 units of competency in total, covering communication with influence, critical thinking, workplace relationships, operational planning, emotional intelligence, team effectiveness, and business resource and performance management. The qualification runs over 52 weeks, with 40 weeks of training and assessment delivered across four 10-week study periods and 12 weeks of study breaks, at 20 hours per week. Graduates are prepared for management roles such as business services manager, business development manager or organisational development advisor, with a training pathway into the Advanced Diploma of Leadership and Management.
