Diploma of Leadership and Management

The BSB50420 Diploma of Leadership and Management at Fusion College of Technology reflects the role of individuals who apply knowledge, practical skills and experience in leadership and management across a range of enterprise and industry contexts. Individuals at this level display initiative and judgement in planning, organising, implementing and monitoring their own workload and the workload of others. They use communication skills to support individuals and teams to meet organisational or enterprise requirements. They may plan, design, apply and evaluate solutions to unpredictable problems, and identify, analyse and synthesise information from a variety of sources. The college recommends the qualification for international students who are seeking to pursue or further a career in leadership and management, seeking to enter a new industry sector, or seeking a pathway to higher level qualifications. The program is made up of twelve units of competency - six core and six elective - covering communication with influence, critical thinking, workplace relationships, operational planning, emotional intelligence, team effectiveness, budgeting, work health and safety, and workplace sustainability policy. It is delivered over 52 weeks, including 40 weeks of training and assessment spread over four terms of ten weeks each and 12 weeks of holidays, in the classroom and through structured supervised study sessions at the college's Parramatta campus. No occupational licensing, certification or specific legislative requirements apply to this qualification at the time of publication.
